In recognition of Earth Day, we’re shining a light on simple, everyday ways people are making a difference.
From choosing more sustainable ways to work and live to creating spaces that support these actions, big or small, show how each of us can play a part in building a greener future. Whether at home, at work, or out in the community, every step toward sustainability counts.
Choosing to work remotely or in a hybrid setup can make a real difference. It helps cut down on commuting emissions, reduces energy use in office buildings, and encourages more digital, paper-free habits. A recent blog by Remote.com explores how this shift contributes to long-term gains and encourages companies to rethink their operational impact.
The following practices are often encouraged by companies and individuals looking to reduce their environmental footprint:
Organizations are increasingly aligning office spaces with sustainability goals. That might mean using energy-efficient lighting, going digital instead of relying on paper, choosing sustainable materials, designing flexible spaces, and finding smart ways to cut down on waste. It's all about creating a workspace that feels good and does good.
We’re proud to spotlight a few Genesis10 team members who are making sustainability part of their everyday lives:
“I organized a “Kindness to Earth, Kindness to People” lunch-and-learn to spark conversations around small sustainable habits and how caring for the planet connects to how we treat one another. Simple actions like using reusable containers and carpooling led to meaningful discussions and even inspired community connections, creating the ripple effect I hoped for.”
"We use vermicomposting to divert food waste and items like egg cartons from landfills. The resulting nutrient-rich compost helps enrich soil and support plant growth.”
“After moving to Florida, I joined Waterway Warriors, a local group that removes trash from waterways to protect marine life. We hold regular cleanups on Saturday mornings.”
“Our yard is a certified wildlife habitat that supports native ecosystems. We replaced invasive plants with native ones, grow a seasonal vegetable garden, compost food scraps, and teach our children to love and protect nature.”
“We focus on growing and propagating plants, especially heritage varieties. One of our oldest plants, a snake plant, has been passed down through generations since the 1970s.”
“Our family gardens together, growing everything from tomatoes to pollinator-friendly flowers. We’ve also transitioned to drought-tolerant native Texas plants and maintain a small wildlife habitat for local animals.”
These personal contributions remind us that meaningful change often begins with individual action. We're inspired by our people who lead with purpose and help drive our shared mission for a greener future.
Earth Day provides an opportunity to spotlight the practical and thoughtful actions that collectively support a healthier planet. Whether through professional environments or personal choices, sustainability begins with awareness and intentionality.
Happy Earth Day from all of us at Genesis10!
